Contract and scope
Topsoe has signed a contract to deliver front‑end engineering and design (FEED) for Uniper’s NorthStarH2 e‑methanol project in Östersund, northern Sweden. The FEED covers integration of Topsoe’s e‑methanol solution including gas compression.
Technology
The design is based on Topsoe’s ModuLite™ e‑methanol technology, a prefabricated modular concept intended to accelerate construction and commissioning. The technology’s dynamic synthesis loop is highlighted as enabling reliable operation under fluctuating renewable power.
Feedstock and logistics
The plant will produce e‑methanol by combining renewable hydrogen with biogenic CO₂ captured from biomass combustion. Its access to established road and rail infrastructure will allow distribution across Sweden and into wider European transportation and chemical markets.
Schedule and commentary
