- thyssenkrupp Uhde to deliver FEED for Brunei Fertilizer Industries' ammonia export expansion, covering a cryogenic storage tank, jetty interface, pipelines and ship-loading systems.
- FEED will use Uhde India's engineering standards for cryogenic ammonia storage and integrate the export facility into the existing BFI complex to enable large-scale exports.
- BFI's existing complex includes an ammonia plant (2,200 metric tons/day) and urea plants with granulation (3,900 metric tons/day each).
Project scope
thyssenkrupp Uhde will deliver the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for expanding Brunei Fertilizer Industries’ ammonia handling and export infrastructure, including a new cryogenic ammonia storage tank, a dedicated export facility, jetty integration, pipelines and ship‑loading systems to support large‑scale exports.
Engineering and integration
The FEED will be executed by Uhde’s global engineering network, combining uhde® ammonia process technology with Uhde India’s standards and expertise in cryogenic storage and ammonia logistics; scope covers tank design, jetty interface, loading arms and optimized tie‑in to the existing plant to ensure safe, reliable export operations.
Existing plant and rationale
BFI’s integrated fertilizer complex includes an ammonia plant with 2,200 t/day capacity and urea and urea granulation units at 3,900 t/day; the export expansion aims to increase market access for fertilizer and position ammonia for growing demand as a low‑carbon energy carrier.
