President João Lourenço of Angola and Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi met in Luanda to discuss Azule Energy's progress and Eni's activities in Angola. The meeting coincided with Angola's 50th independence anniversary and included discussions with key figures in Angola's oil and gas sector.

Azule Energy's Achievements

Azule Energy, a joint venture between Eni and bp, has excelled in exploration and project delivery, notably starting production from the Agogo FPSO 10 months ahead of schedule. The company aims to increase production to 370,000 boed by the end of 2026 with the Integrated West Hub and the New Gas Consortium, Angola's first non-associated gas project.

Refinery and Biofuel Initiatives

Descalzi updated the President on the Luanda refinery's improved reliability and ongoing studies for a bio-refinery focused on sustainable aviation fuel.

Social and Economic Projects

Azule Energy is involved in initiatives to enhance health, education, and economic diversification in Angola. Projects include support for Luanda's Cardiopulmonary Hospital, training for over 700 individuals in business management, and plans to build or renovate 14 educational facilities for 17,000 children. Azule is also a major funder of demining activities in Benguela.

Sustainability Efforts

Eni's sustainable mobility and carbon offset activities include a campaign for agrifeedstock production involving 2,000 farmers, with vegetable oil production expected to reach 5 ktons by year-end. The Clean Cooking program has reached over 500,000 people and aims for 2 million by 2030, creating jobs and promoting local production of cookstoves.
