Project Suspension

Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc. (MGC) has decided to temporarily halt the construction of a meta-xylenediamine (MXDA) production facility at its subsidiary, MGC Specialty Chemicals Netherlands B.V. This decision was made due to construction delays, increased costs, and changes in the market environment.

Reasons for Delay

The project, initially announced in September 2021, faced setbacks due to a change in contractors mid-construction and rising construction and labor costs, influenced by the Russia-Ukraine conflict. These factors have raised concerns about the project's commercial viability.

Project Details

The facility was planned to start production in July 2024, with a capacity of 25,000 MTA. MGC Specialty Chemicals Netherlands B.V., established in January 2021, is located in Botlek Rotterdam, Netherlands, and is fully owned by MGC.

Future Outlook

MGC is currently assessing the impact of the suspension on its financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. The company will announce any significant developments regarding the project's future direction.
