Project overview
Technip Energies was awarded two FEED contracts by Société Gabonaise de Raffinage (SOGARA) for revamp and expansion of the Port-Gentil refinery in Gabon, covering both debottlenecking of existing units and a new modular Hydrocracker Complex.
Debottlenecking scope
The first FEED targets key process units and includes a new kerosene sweetening unit, four additional storage facilities, and full process integration between existing and new units.
Expansion scope
The second FEED covers a modular Hydrocracker Complex to significantly increase refining capacity and incorporates a new marine jetty and offloading facility; hydrogen provision in the scope references Technip Energies’ proprietary Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) technology.
Standards and local impact
Both projects are designed to meet Africa 5 fuel-quality standards (stringent sulfur limits), aiming to reduce sulfur emissions and support improved air quality, as well as contribute to Gabon’s economic development and local employment.
