Forum overview
On April 2–3 the GECA International Forum in Astana convened government bodies, researchers and national and international oil and gas companies to address geology, exploration, technology adoption and regional contributions to energy security in Central Asia.
TCO participation
Tengizchevroil participated in plenary and panel sessions; General Director William Lacobie delivered a keynote stressing the need to balance efficient resource development, advanced technology, workforce development and industrial and environmental safety, and called for stable regulation and partnerships with authorities and communities.
Reserves and technical priorities
The Tengiz reservoir’s proven reserves are reported at 3.1 billion tonnes (~25 billion barrels) and Korolev at 200 million tonnes (~1.6 billion barrels); combined recoverable reserves are estimated at about 1.4 billion tonnes (~11 billion barrels). For mature, technically complex fields the forum highlighted the role of technological innovation in increasing recovery, enhancing safety and improving efficiency.
