At the "Fora da Caixa" event in Sines on 3 March, aicep Global Parques CEO Isabel Caldeira Cardoso presented a portfolio exceeding €25 billion in projects and leads preparing to establish operations in the region in the coming years. She positioned ZILS – Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone – as a strategic hub for industrial, logistics and technology investment, and said the momentum reflects national and international confidence in Sines’ ecosystem.
Economic and social impact study
The CEO announced the launch of a study to rigorously quantify the economic and social contribution of the Sines port and industrial complex. The study, to be released under ADRAL’s Invest In Alentejo Programme, is intended to support public policy and investment decisions by providing a solid evidence base on the cluster’s value and infrastructure needs.
Transport links and competitiveness
Pedro do Ó Ramos, Chairman of the Board of APS, stressed the strategic importance of improving transport connections. He cited the new Évora–Badajoz railway link as a measure that will allow the Port of Sines to compete directly with the Port of Valencia for hinterland access, reduce transport times and bolster Portugal’s logistics competitiveness. Caldeira Cardoso framed Sines as a platform combining advanced industry, efficient logistics and global market access.
