Project Overview
RWE has completed the construction of the 100 MW Lafitte Solar project in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. The project is set to be fully operational by the end of the year, providing reliable and affordable electricity to the local grid.
Partnership and Environmental Benefits
The project was made possible through a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Meta, which also receives all environmental benefits, including Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).
Economic Impact
Lafitte Solar is expected to generate approximately $32 million in regional tax revenue over its lifetime, benefiting public schools, law enforcement, and emergency services. The construction phase supported over 150 full-time jobs, positively impacting local businesses and the economy.
Sustainable Land Use
The project incorporates sustainable practices, such as native vegetation and agrivoltaics, using a flock of over 600 sheep to maintain healthy vegetation. This approach supports biodiversity and strengthens partnerships with local farmers, demonstrating the coexistence of renewable energy and agriculture.
