Project Overview
QatarEnergy has awarded an EPC contract for the North Field West (NFW) LNG project, part of the world's largest LNG expansion. This project will increase Qatar's LNG production to 142 MTPA.
Contract Details
The contract includes two LNG mega-trains with a combined capacity of 16 MTPA, along with facilities for gas treatment, natural gas liquids recovery, and helium extraction. The project will also produce 175,000 barrels per day of condensate, ethane, and LPG.
Involved Parties
The EPC contract was awarded to a joint venture comprising Technip Energies, Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC), and Gulf Asia Contractor (GAC). The agreement was signed at QatarEnergy's headquarters in Doha.
Environmental Initiatives
The NFW project emphasizes environmental performance, featuring a carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) capacity of 1.1 MTPA. Additionally, jetty boil-off gas recovery facilities will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by recovering 0.42 MTPA of CO2. A significant portion of the project's electricity will come from Qatar's solar plants.
Timeline
The first LNG cargo from the NFW project is expected by the end of 2031.
