Initiative Overview
PPG has partnered with FIRE-OFF and Dijkstra Plastics to launch Sigma EcoCollect in the Netherlands. This initiative allows professional painters to return plastic and metal packaging from Sigma Coatings and competitor products for recycling.
Program Expansion
Following a successful pilot in September 2024, the program will expand to 32 PPG Sigma Service Centers and 61 Sigma Coatings wholesalers. The pilot increased returned packaging and sparked sustainability discussions with customers.
Logistics and Processing
FIRE-OFF will manage the logistics of collecting the returned packaging, while Dijkstra Plastics will handle the material processing. The initiative aims to support a closed-loop recycling system by repurposing collected materials into new Sigma Coatings packaging.
Sustainability Goals
The Sigma EcoCollect initiative aligns with PPG's sustainability targets, including increasing post-consumer recycled content in packaging and reducing scope 3 emissions. It is part of PPG's TOMORROW INCLUDED® concept, which emphasizes the sustainability benefits of its products.
