Phaenix pilot installed at Delfzijl Chemport Innovation Center

Key highlights
  • Pilot installation arrived in Delfzijl and will be installed at the Chemport Innovation Center.
  • It will produce PHA-rich biomass over the coming years as feedstock for the Caleyda® extraction pilot in Emmen.
  • Material from the pilot will enable extensive application development, product validation and quality testing.
  • Integrating production and extraction at pilot scale is a key step in the scale-up roadmap to accelerate new Caleyda® applications.

Pilot arrival and site

Last week, our pilot installation arrived in Delfzijl and will be installed at the Chemport Innovation Center.

Production and feedstock role

Over the coming years this pilot will produce PHA-rich biomass, providing the feedstock for the Caleyda® extraction pilot in Emmen. This will enable generation of material needed for extensive application development, product validation, and quality testing.

Scale-up and next steps

The installation is presented as a crucial step in the scale-up roadmap: by integrating production and extraction at pilot scale the project aims to accelerate development of new applications for Caleyda® with partners. The team acknowledged contributors and said they look forward to the pilot coming to life and advancing toward a circular future built on biobased and biodegradable materials.
