- Each LNG carrier can transport 174,000 m³ of LNG, equivalent to 100 million m³ of natural gas after regasification.
- The charter period for the new vessels is ten years, with an option to extend.
- ORLEN's LNG fleet now includes eight ships, enhancing logistics capabilities.
- Poland's natural gas consumption may rise to 27 billion m³ annually over the next decade.
Fleet Expansion
ORLEN Group is enhancing its LNG transport capacity with two new state-of-the-art carriers, named at the Hanwha Ocean shipyard in South Korea. These vessels will improve gas delivery stability and flexibility to Poland, contributing to regional energy security.
Carrier Specifications
Each vessel can carry 174,000 m³ of LNG, translating to approximately 100 million m³ of natural gas post-regasification. This capacity is sufficient to meet the weekly gas consumption of all Polish households.
Operational Flexibility
The carriers, Danuta Siedzikówna-Inka and Rotmistrz Witold Pilecki, are designed to access most LNG terminals globally, ensuring high operational flexibility. They are chartered for ten years, with an extension option.
Technological Advancements
Incorporating advanced technologies, the vessels feature a reliquefaction system to recover evaporated LNG and integrated power management. Their engines can operate on both natural gas and diesel, aligning with future maritime environmental standards.
Strategic Importance
ORLEN's expanded fleet, now totaling eight ships, enhances its LNG logistics capabilities, reducing reliance on third-party tonnage. This development supports Poland's energy transition, with natural gas consumption projected to rise to 27 billion m³ annually over the next decade.
Global Market Presence
ORLEN is increasing its global LNG market presence, with deliveries to countries like Japan, China, and Egypt. The new carriers will further boost its logistics capabilities, enabling more active participation in global LNG trade.
