ORLEN launches small‑scale LNG and bioLNG market demand survey

Key highlights
  • Survey open to business customers until the end of June to inform future infrastructure and offerings.
  • Responses will help define LNG/bioLNG reloading location, capacity and operating models for 2029–2033.
  • Świnoujście reloading capacity being raised from 40 to 60 tanker trucks per day; planned Gdańsk facility up to 48 trucks/day with operations planned from 2030.
  • Poland small‑scale LNG loadings reached 192,000 tonnes in 2025 (20× since 2016); Lithuania reached 33,000 tonnes (8× since 2020).

Survey purpose

ORLEN has opened a market demand survey for small‑scale LNG and bioLNG asking business partners for projected volumes, preferred delivery locations and fuel‑use models. The company says responses will guide planning of future infrastructure and tailored commercial offerings.

Scope and timeline

The survey is intended to shape LNG reloading and logistics infrastructure for the 2029–2033 period and will remain open until the end of June. ORLEN plans to repeat the survey regularly to maintain dialogue with the market.

Planned infrastructure

Świnoujście will remain the primary regional supply source, with reloading capacity being increased from 40 to 60 tanker trucks per day. Planned infrastructure in Gdańsk — being assessed under options including direct ship‑to‑truck transfer or onshore storage tanks — is intended to complement existing facilities with capacity up to 48 tanker trucks per day and LNG loading under the new model expected to begin in 2030. The Klaipėda terminal in Lithuania continues to supply the Baltic markets and may expand if demand grows.

Market growth

Small‑scale LNG loadings in Poland rose twentyfold since 2016 to 192,000 tonnes in 2025; Lithuania’s demand grew eightfold since 2020 to 33,000 tonnes. ORLEN frames the survey as a tool to align investments and logistics with that rapid growth.
