ORLEN Boosts Production with Różańsko Gas Field Launch

Key highlights
  • Różańsko field holds 1.2 bcm reserves, contributing 130 mcm annually.
  • ORLEN targets 4 bcm gas production in Poland by 2030.
  • Dębno facility expanded with an 8 MW cogeneration unit.
  • Gas supplies power plants; crude and sulphur serve industrial needs.

Różańsko Field Production

ORLEN has started production at the Różańsko natural gas field in West Pomerania, with reserves estimated at 1.2 bcm. This development is part of the expansion of the Dębno Oil and Gas Extraction Facility, enhancing output from other fields in the region.

Contribution to Domestic Supply

The Różańsko field is expected to add up to 130 mcm of natural gas annually to Poland's domestic production. The gas will primarily supply combined heat and power plants in Kostrzyn nad Odrą and Gorzów Wielkopolski, while crude oil and liquid sulphur will be delivered to Polish industrial customers.

Infrastructure and Expansion

The project involved upgrading three existing production wells and expanding associated infrastructure. A new pipeline connects the field to the Dębno facility, which now includes an 8 MW cogeneration unit fueled by gas from nearby fields, achieving self-sufficiency in electricity and process heat, with surplus power exported to the grid.

Strategic Goals

Strengthening domestic production aligns with ORLEN's Strategy 2035, aiming for 4 bcm of gas output in Poland by 2030. Concurrently, ORLEN is developing projects on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and pursuing international investments to reach 12 bcm of gas from equity production by the decade's end.
