Moeve and ArcelorMittal will form a 50-50 platform under their Green Molecules to Green Steel (G2G) partnership to develop, scale and implement disruptive technologies that use green molecules to enable low‑emissions steel and broader industrial decarbonization.

Funding and governance

The platform will be financed through a mix of the partners' own resources and public support. Sekuens will contribute via existing and future regional innovation initiatives, and additional regional, national or private participants may join if aligned with the platform’s objectives and governance.

Technical focus and activities

Workstreams will centre on green molecules — biomethane and biogas, renewable hydrogen and derivatives, and second‑generation biofuels — and supporting solutions such as more efficient catalysts, CO2 capture to add value to CO2, biotechnology for process improvements, and AI for new materials. The partnership will develop industrial demonstrators intended for scale‑up at production sites.

Collaboration and regional impact

The initiative will be driven by Moeve and ArcelorMittal innovation centres as an open, collaborative hub for startups, universities and technology centres, aiming to strengthen Asturias’s innovation ecosystem, attract talent and enhance competitiveness in the energy‑steel transition.
