Partnership Overview
Moeve and ID Energy Group have partnered to develop up to 1 TWh of biomethane production capacity. This initiative is part of Moeve's Positive Motion strategy to expand its biomethane projects in Spain.
Biomethane Production Goals
The partnership aims to repurpose 3.1 million tons of livestock and agricultural waste annually, contributing to 8% of the target set by Spain's National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC) for 2030. The biomethane produced will support green hydrogen production and serve as a natural gas substitute to decarbonize industrial operations.
Project Timeline
Moeve expects to have approximately 10 approved biomethane projects by the end of 2025. The production capacity is equivalent to the natural gas consumed by 142,000 households each year.
Environmental Impact
Biomethane can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90% compared to natural gas. It is produced from biogas through anaerobic digestion of organic waste, followed by a purification process known as upgrading. This process supports the circular economy and sustainable development in rural areas.
