Project Overview

MAIRE's subsidiary, KT - Kinetics Technology, has been awarded an EPC contract by Eni to construct a hydrogen production plant at Eni’s Livorno refinery. The contract is valued at €123 million, with project completion targeted for 2026.

Hydrogen Production

The new plant will process natural gas and biogenic feedstocks to generate hydrogen. This hydrogen will be used to produce biofuels for mobility at the Livorno site. The feedstocks include waste such as cooking oils, animal fats, and residues from the agribusiness industry.

Future-Proof Design

The plant is designed to accommodate a residual CO2 capture unit, which can be implemented at a later stage, enhancing its environmental sustainability.

Biorefinery Conversion

This construction is part of Eni’s broader initiative to convert its Livorno plant into a biorefinery, aligning with efforts to increase biofuel production and contribute to the decarbonization of transport.
