Hou Qijun surveys Shengli Oilfield operations and innovation

Survey scope and policy context
From August 4–6, Group Party Secretary and Chairman Hou Qijun toured Shengli Oilfield sites, emphasising implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping's instructions and the Group's 2026 Work Conference, Leading Cadres Conference and Science and Technology Innovation Conference deployments. He urged taking responsibility for national energy security and advancing the Group's "secondary entrepreneurship."
R&D and integration
Hou visited the Geological Engineering Integration Expert Studio and Integration Center, joint initiatives between Shengli Oilfield, Shengli Petroleum Engineering and Jingwei Company focused on whole-process exploration and development. He called for technological and management integration—"man and sword united"—to enable resource sharing, rapid decision-making and multi-disciplinary standards that speed result transformation.
Operational examples and production
Hou highlighted Minfeng No.8's well-factory assembly-line mode: 36 wells deployed within an area about the size of two football fields, with three drilling rigs sharing technology, equipment, materials and personnel. He also reviewed offshore operations at Chengdao Center No.3; the Offshore Oil Production Plant has 112 platforms and annual production exceeding 3.6 million tons, seen as a stable growth position for Shengli.
Green energy and recovery measures
On green-low-carbon work he inspected the "Source Grid Load Storage" Smart Energy Platform, which provides full-domain real-time power-consumption analysis and resource balancing, and the Xin109 Geothermal Multi-utilization Demonstration Station, which repurposes abandoned wells for geothermal heat to enable oil-heat collaborative development. He urged scaling geological engineering integration and chemical flooding to raise recovery rates while improving clean energy supply.
Safety, organisation and employees
Hou stressed safety and environmental protection as absolute priorities, enhancing grassroots party organisations and addressing employees' urgent needs. He visited the "Shengli Imprint" exhibition, met staff, and encouraged carrying forward past achievements to support high-quality development.
