- Honeywell UOP will supply Oleflex technology to Dangote to add 750,000 metric tons per year of propylene.
- Dangote will deploy Honeywell petrochemical technologies and catalysts to produce 400,000 metric tons per year of linear alkylbenzene (LAB).
- The Lekki LAB plant will be one of the world's largest LAB facilities.
- Dangote plans to expand refining capacity from 650,000 to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028.
Project scope
Honeywell UOP will supply Oleflex technology plus petrochemical process technologies and catalysts to Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE to support on-site production of base chemicals used in plastics and detergents.
Production capacities
The Oleflex unit will add 750,000 metric tons per year of propylene; a suite of petrochemical technologies and catalysts will enable production of 400,000 metric tons per year of linear alkylbenzene (LAB), with the Lekki LAB plant slated to be among the world’s largest.
Strategic impact
The new capabilities target increased regional supply of packaging materials, consumer and industrial goods, and detergents, with aims to reduce import dependence and support local industrial growth and supply-chain resilience.
Refinery expansion and timeline
Dangote is using Honeywell technologies as part of a broader plan to raise refinery capacity from 650,000 to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028. The partnership reflects an ongoing collaboration on process, automation and catalyst solutions for the refinery and petrochemical complex.
