Investment and Expansion
Covestro has initiated additional production lines for specialty films at its Dormagen site in Germany. This expansion is part of a global program to increase film capacity, with a total investment exceeding 100 million euros. The project was completed on schedule despite the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, and it will create approximately 30 new jobs.

The new coextrusion lines will primarily produce multilayer flat films. These films are crucial for embedding security features in identity documents, ensuring protection against counterfeiting. They are also used in medical technology and automotive interiors.
Technological Advancements
The new production lines are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, enabling faster and higher-quality supply to customers. This technological upgrade aims to improve development work and accelerate the market introduction of new products.
Global Competence Centers
The Dormagen site includes production facilities, a technical center for film processing, a showroom, and research laboratories. Covestro also operates competence centers for semi-finished products in Leverkusen and Bomlitz, Germany, as well as several other locations worldwide.
Global Expansion Efforts
As part of its global investment program, Covestro recently started a new production facility for polycarbonate films in Map Ta Phut, Thailand. Additionally, a coextrusion film plant in Guangzhou, China, was upgraded, and production efficiency and quality were improved in South Deerfield, USA.
