Chlorum Solutions USA has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Eddyville Chlor-Alkali, LLC, a Cargill subsidiary; the transaction is expected to close in Q2 2026.

The Eddyville facility uses advanced membrane chlor-alkali technology to produce sodium hypochlorite, hydrochloric acid and caustic soda, and it currently serves multiple Cargill operations and regional manufacturers.
Operations and strategy
Chlorum’s business model focuses on small-scale, proximity-based chlor-alkali production to lower transport costs and improve supply chain reliability for customers. The Iowa acquisition follows Chlorum’s December 2024 announcement of a Casa Grande, Arizona plant (an investment of more than $70 million) and complements affiliates’ existing operations of six facilities in Brazil and Uruguay, with two more in commissioning.

Chlorum said safety and efficiency are priorities, that it will invest in the plant’s long-term performance, and that all current employees will remain in their roles to preserve customer continuity and the safety culture established at the site.
