Axens licenses Vegan® HEFA to Dragonfly for SAF plants in Caribbean and Africa

Axens and Dragonfly have partnered for the licensing of Axens’ Vegan® HEFA technology to develop multiple sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production facilities located in Africa and the Caribbean.
Technology and scope
Dragonfly will implement Axens’ proprietary Vegan® HEFA process using modular process units engineered and supplied by Dragonfly. The sites will process renewable feedstocks including used cooking oils, waste animal fats and other vegetable oils. Axens will provide integrated catalyst and adsorbent solutions, proprietary equipment, and operational support and training to optimise plant performance and reliability.
Deployment rationale
Dragonfly aims to accelerate deployment of its technologies to bring SAF refineries to market faster and with a lower financial and carbon footprint than traditional routes. The company intends to convert local waste into local biofuel supply to serve under‑served markets at city scale.
