Deal details
ADNOC has signed a long-term Sales and Purchase Agreement with Gujarat Energy Ltd (GEL) to supply up to 4 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas over ten years, with deliveries starting in 2028. This is ADNOC’s fifth LNG supply agreement in India and represents the first sale of molecules from XRG’s international portfolio.
Platform and XRG
The SPA was concluded through ADNOC’s global LNG marketing and trading platform, launched in July 2026 in Abu Dhabi Global Market. The platform has signed supply agreements with INPEX in Japan, Gulf Group in Thailand and Gujarat Energy in India, and targets 47 mtpa of marketable LNG beyond 2030. The deal connects XRG-owned supply produced outside the Gulf with demand in India via the platform.
Customer position and rationale
GEL said the partnership leverages its regasification infrastructure, a city gas network operating across 44 districts in six states, and a growing trading presence in India. GEL described natural gas as central to India’s shift toward cleaner energy, offering a lower-carbon option for industry, a safer household cooking fuel and support for cleaner transport growth.
