Gujarat Energy Limited (GEL) is an integrated energy company headquartered in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. Formerly known as Gujarat Gas Limited, it was renamed following a 2026 composite scheme of amalgamation and arrangement involving entities from the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) group, approved by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
The company is India's largest city gas distribution (CGD) player by sales volume, operating across 44 districts in six states—Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh—plus the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. It maintains an extensive natural gas pipeline network exceeding 45,900 km, operates over 844 CNG stations, and serves more than 2.4 million households, 16,600 commercial customers, and 4,500 industrial users.
Beyond CGD, GEL is a leading gas trader, procuring LNG cargoes from international suppliers to meet demand in fertilizers, power, petrochemicals, and other sectors. It holds participating interests in 12 exploration and production blocks, primarily in Gujarat's Cambay Basin, and owns 123.9 MW of wind power assets. Subsidiaries include GSPC LNG Limited, which operates a 5 MTPA LNG terminal in Mundra, and power generation entities with 1,200 MW capacity. An associate, Sabarmati Gas Limited, operates CGD in north Gujarat as a joint venture with BPCL.
As a listed public limited company with significant state government promoter holdings (around 39%), GEL supports India's shift to cleaner energy through its natural gas infrastructure, trading activities, and renewable assets. It also promotes research via the Gujarat Energy Research & Management Institute (GERMI).
