World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is an international, non-governmental conservation organization dedicated to protecting biodiversity and reducing humanity’s environmental footprint. Founded in 1961 and headquartered in Gland, Switzerland, WWF operates in over 100 countries. Known by its panda logo, the organization works across themes such as wildlife protection, forests, oceans, freshwater, climate and energy, and sustainable food systems. In some countries, including the United States and Canada, it is known as the World Wildlife Fund.
For the chemical and materials value chains, WWF engages with policymakers, industry, and civil society on issues that shape operating conditions and sustainability expectations—such as climate targets, plastic pollution, chemical pollution, water stewardship, and nature-positive supply chains. It produces science-based analyses and policy positions, participates in multi-stakeholder initiatives, and supports the development and adoption of credible standards and disclosure frameworks. WWF’s work can influence regulations, market norms, and corporate strategies related to materials, packaging, emissions, and biodiversity impacts.
