About TPDC

Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation is the national oil company of Tanzania, established to manage the exploration, development, and production of the country's petroleum resources. As a state-owned entity, it oversees upstream activities including seismic data acquisition, drilling programs, and the negotiation of production sharing agreements with international partners.

The corporation operates in key sedimentary basins both onshore and offshore, supporting Tanzania's efforts to develop its natural gas reserves for domestic use and export. It participates in infrastructure projects such as pipelines and port facilities, including initiatives to create regional energy hubs at locations like the Port of Tanga.

TPDC collaborates with entities such as the Uganda National Oil Company and international traders like Vitol on cross-border energy developments. Wholly owned by the Government of Tanzania, it promotes local content policies, capacity building, and technology transfer while positioning the country in the East African energy market through responsible resource management and commercial partnerships.
