The Swedish Energy Agency (Energimyndigheten) is Sweden’s national government authority for energy policy. It supports the transition to a secure, sustainable, and efficient energy system by funding research, innovation, and demonstration projects; running support programs; and providing energy statistics, market monitoring, and policy analysis. Its work spans electricity, heat, transport fuels, and emerging energy carriers, with a focus on security of supply and reduced climate impact.
For energy‑intensive sectors, including chemicals, the agency co-finances initiatives to cut energy use and greenhouse gas emissions and to accelerate industrial decarbonization. Priority areas include energy efficiency, electrification, hydrogen, bioenergy, and other low‑carbon technologies, as well as the scale‑up of pilots and first‑of‑a‑kind plants. The agency also facilitates collaboration between industry, academia, and public stakeholders to help move technologies from development to commercial deployment.
