SunGas Renewables

About SunGas

SunGas Renewables Inc. is a Houston, Texas-based company specializing in biomass gasification technology. It develops and supplies modular S1000 syngas production systems that convert sustainably sourced woody biomass and forestry residues into low-carbon syngas for the manufacture of renewable methanol, sustainable aviation fuel, renewable natural gas, hydrogen, and chemicals. Founded in 2019, the company is part of C2X, majority-owned by A.P. Moller Holding with minority stakes held by ENEOS and A.P. Moller-Maersk. SunGas offers its technology and engineering services to third-party projects in the advanced biofuels sector. In June 2026, it ceased further development of the proposed Beaver Lake Biofuels project in Louisiana due to slower market adoption of low-carbon methanol, uncertainties in carbon capture and storage, and financing and regulatory conditions.
