SLECO is a Belgian waste-to-energy company active at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges (Waaslandhaven). It recovers energy from non-recyclable waste and delivers it as process steam to nearby industry, supporting cleaner and more efficient operations in the port’s chemical cluster.
The company is a core supplier to the ECLUSE industrial steam network, which transports high‑pressure steam from waste incineration facilities on the left bank of the Scheldt to multiple users across the port area. By enabling the direct use of steam—partly derived from biogenic waste—SLECO helps industrial sites reduce natural gas consumption and associated CO2 emissions. Its role within this public‑private collaboration, alongside partners such as Indaver and regional infrastructure operators, contributes to the development of large‑scale, low‑carbon heat solutions for the Antwerp industrial ecosystem.
