Safran S.A. is a French multinational aerospace and defense group that designs, manufactures, and supports aircraft propulsion systems, aircraft equipment and interiors, and defense and space technologies. Created in 2005 from the merger of Snecma and Sagem, the company operates through units including Safran Aircraft Engines (formerly Snecma), Safran Helicopter Engines, Safran Landing Systems, Safran Nacelles, Safran Electrical & Power, Safran Seats, and Safran Cabin. Through CFM International, its joint venture with GE Aerospace, Safran supplies CFM56 and LEAP engines widely used in commercial aviation. Safran is also a shareholder in ArianeGroup for European space launchers.

Safran’s product portfolio spans turbofan and turboshaft engines, landing gear and braking systems, nacelles, avionics, electrical systems, and cabin equipment. Its manufacturing and MRO network covers Europe, the Americas, and Asia. The company’s activities draw on advanced materials and processes relevant to the broader industrial and chemical value chain, including carbon–carbon brake materials, composite nacelles, high-temperature alloys, high-performance polymers and elastomers, coatings, and additive manufacturing.
