North Sea Port is a cross-border port and industrial area spanning Vlissingen and Terneuzen in the Netherlands to Ghent in Belgium along the Ghent–Terneuzen Canal. Formed from the 2018 merger of Zeeland Seaports and the Port of Ghent, it operates a landlord model: developing and managing port infrastructure and leasing industrial sites under long-term concessions. The port offers deep-sea access at Vlissingen, lock access at Terneuzen, and extensive inland waterway, rail, road, and pipeline connections into Western Europe.
The port area hosts major process industry clusters, notably chemicals, polymers, fertilizers, energy carriers, metals, agri-bulk, and logistics. It provides tank storage, terminal and breakbulk facilities, and a dense pipeline network that supports feedstocks and intermediates movement between plants and markets. North Sea Port works with public and private partners on energy-transition projects, including hydrogen, circular plastics, industrial symbiosis, and carbon reduction initiatives, to improve resource efficiency and lower emissions across the cluster. Its multimodal connectivity and available industrial plots make it a hub for brownfield optimization and new-build investments serving the Benelux and wider European chemicals value chain.
