About NFOSiGW

National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (Narodowy Fundusz Ochrony Środowiska i Gospodarki Wodnej, NFOSiGW) is Poland’s central public institution for financing environmental protection and water management. Operating under the Ministry of Climate and Environment, it provides grants, preferential loans, and other financial instruments, and channels national and EU‑backed funding to support projects across the country. NFOSiGW works with regional voivodeship funds to implement programs at local and national levels.

The fund’s priorities span air quality, water and wastewater infrastructure, flood and drought risk management, waste management and circular economy, soil and site remediation, biodiversity protection, climate mitigation and adaptation, renewable energy and energy efficiency, and low‑emission transport. For industrial sectors, including chemicals, NFOSiGW supports investments that reduce emissions and resource use, implement best available techniques (BAT), modernize wastewater treatment and hazardous waste management, improve process energy efficiency, and advance decarbonization through electrification and energy storage. Beneficiaries include municipalities, utilities, enterprises, and research institutions engaged in environmental improvement and compliance with national and EU regulations.
