National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR) is Namibia’s state‑owned oil company, wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Namibia. Established in 1991, it is mandated to manage and represent the state’s interests in the petroleum sector, including upstream exploration and production, resource data management, and advisory roles to government on petroleum policy and licensing.
NAMCOR participates as a partner in onshore and offshore exploration licenses—particularly in the Namibian offshore basins—alongside international operators. The company also operates across the downstream value chain, including fuel supply, strategic storage, and distribution. It manages the National Oil Storage Facility at Walvis Bay and supports national fuel security, while developing a network of branded service stations within Namibia. Through these activities, NAMCOR acts as the state’s commercial vehicle in hydrocarbons, facilitating investment, stewardship of national petroleum resources, and reliable supply to the domestic market.
