Gasunie Energy Development GmbH is a German limited liability company established in late 2022 or early 2023 as a specialized subsidiary within the Gasunie group. The company leads the conversion and repurposing of existing natural gas pipelines for hydrogen transport, along with associated new-build elements, as part of Germany's national Wasserstoff-Kernnetz (hydrogen core network) in north-western Germany. Hyperlink connects to the Dutch Hynetwork and supports broader European hydrogen corridors, including links toward Denmark. Work on initial sections began in 2023, emphasizing cost-effective repurposing of up to 60-70% of existing infrastructure.

Based in Hannover and closely integrated with Gasunie Deutschland, the entity coordinates with the Dutch parent N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie, which is wholly owned by the Dutch State. It employs around 60 professionals across locations in Hannover and Groningen to ensure seamless cross-border development. Within the Gasunie group, which operates extensive regulated gas transmission networks in the Netherlands and northern Germany, this subsidiary occupies a focused position in pioneering the hydrogen value chain and supporting the energy transition.
