Export Finance Australia

Export Finance Australia (EFA) is the Australian Government’s export credit agency. It provides commercially priced finance—such as direct loans, guarantees, and bonds—to support Australian exporters and overseas projects that deliver national benefit when private funding is not available on suitable terms. EFA works alongside banks and investors to help viable transactions proceed, supporting companies from small businesses to large corporates and financing overseas buyers of Australian goods and services.

Its mandate spans a wide range of sectors relevant to the chemical and materials value chain, including resources, critical minerals, processing and manufacturing, energy and renewables, and enabling infrastructure. EFA also administers dedicated government financing programs such as the Critical Minerals Facility and the Defence Export Facility. Through these activities, it helps advance projects, expand production capacity, and strengthen supply chains linked to Australia’s export industries.
