German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V., DLR) is Germany’s national research center for aeronautics and space and the country’s space agency. Organized as a non-profit association, it conducts research and development across aeronautics, space, energy, transport, security, and digitalization, operates large-scale research facilities, and supports government and industry with scientific expertise and technology transfer.

DLR’s activities intersect with the chemical industry through work on energy and process technologies. Key areas include hydrogen production, storage, and fuel cells; power-to-X and synthetic fuels; combustion and propulsion research; concentrated solar power and thermal process engineering; advanced materials and lightweight structures; and atmospheric chemistry, emissions, and climate impact assessments. The organization collaborates with industrial partners and academia and provides test infrastructure for validation and scale-up of technologies relevant to sustainable energy and mobility value chains.
