Butachimie is a French chemical joint venture that operates a major production site in Chalampé, France, focused on intermediates for the polyamide 6.6 (nylon 6,6) value chain. Its core products include adiponitrile (ADN) and hexamethylenediamine (HMD), which are critical feedstocks for nylon 6,6. The company supplies customers in Europe and globally. Butachimie is jointly owned by Invista and BASF, following BASF’s acquisition of Solvay’s former stake in the venture. The site employs approximately 400 people.
The Chalampé facility is a strategic link in the global PA 6.6 supply chain and has been the focus of modernization projects, including the installation of Invista’s advanced ADN production technology aimed at improving yields, reducing energy consumption and greenhouse-gas emissions, and enhancing process stability. Operations include regular maintenance turnarounds to ensure asset reliability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
