Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias (ADIF) is Spain’s state-owned rail infrastructure manager. Established in 2005 and reporting to the Spanish Ministry of Transport, it plans, builds, maintains, and manages the national railway network, covering conventional and high-speed lines (the latter through its subsidiary ADIF Alta Velocidad), as well as stations, yards, freight terminals, signalling, power supply, and traffic control. ADIF allocates train paths and sets and collects access charges for passenger and freight operators.
For industry, ADIF’s infrastructure provides key freight corridors and intermodal links to ports, logistics hubs, and industrial sites, supporting the movement of bulk materials and other goods, including those relevant to the chemical sector, across Spain and into European corridors. The organization develops projects to expand capacity, improve interoperability (e.g., ERTMS), accelerate electrification, and enhance safety and sustainability in rail logistics.
