PTT/GC-backed Yaek Lak Turn x Mai Trawm expands material streams, adds PRISM in year two
- Collected more than 170,000 kg of used materials via Recycle Stations at participating PTT Stations.
- Expanded accepted materials from 8 to 10 types by adding used cooking oil (UCO) and stretch plastics.
- Achieved a reduction of over 400,000 kg CO2e per year, equivalent to planting more than 30,000 trees.
- Operate Recycle Stations at six PTT Station branches on Saturdays–Sundays, 08:30–17:30.
Project update
The Yaek Lak Turn x Mai Trawm joint initiative moved into its second year and welcomed PRISM (the Petrochemical and Refining Value‑Sharing Business Management Project operated by PTT) as a new partner. PRISM brings expertise in collecting used cooking oil (UCO) and expands the project’s circular‑economy capabilities.
Material expansion
Accepted material types increased from eight to ten with the addition of used cooking oil (UCO), which can be processed into feedstock for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and stretch plastics such as product wrapping film, stretch film, and clean plastic bags.
Collection results
Participants returned more than 170,000 kilograms of used materials through Recycle Stations at participating PTT Stations. Reported volumes include mixed paper >80,000 kg; aluminum cans >90,000 kg; clear PET bottles >20,000 kg; glass bottles >20,000 kg; black‑and‑white paper >3,000 kg; UHT boxes >3,000 kg; zinc cans >1,000 kg; and opaque HDPE bottles >1,000 kg. Materials will be routed to appropriate recycling or upgrading processes.
Operations and impact
The project continues at six PTT Station branches on weekends (Saturday–Sunday, 08:30–17:30): Avenue Chaengwattana, Ram Intra Km.3 (inbound), Min Buri, Sanpawut‑Bang Na, Udomsuk, and Suksawat (outbound). Reported environmental benefits include a reduction of more than 400,000 kg CO2e per year, cited as equivalent to planting over 30,000 trees.
