- The third plant will produce 330,000 tons per year of resin using MTR® technology.
Project Overview
thyssenkrupp Uhde’s subsidiary, Uhde Inventa-Fischer, has signed a contract to construct three large-scale polymer plants for SASA Polyester Sanayi A.Ş in Adana, Turkey. The project includes a PET plant with a production capacity of 1,050 metric tons per day (380,000 tons per year) for low viscosity applications, a Co-PET plant with a capacity of 100 metric tons per day (36,000 tons per year), and a resin plant using proprietary MTR® technology to produce 330,000 tons per year of resin for PET bottles.
Technological Advancements
The MTR® (Melt-to-Resin) process, a key feature of the project, eliminates the need for solid-state polycondensation (SSP), resulting in significant energy savings. This technology reduces investment, operating, and maintenance costs, offers a higher raw material yield, and produces superior quality products. The MTR® process utilizes Uhde Inventa-Fischer’s patented 2-Reactor technology, which includes the ESPREE® and DISCAGE® reactors to achieve high melt viscosities.
Scope of Delivery
The scope of delivery for all three plants encompasses basic and detailed engineering, the supply of all necessary components, technical services related to plant erection, and supervision of both erection and commissioning. This comprehensive approach ensures that the plants will be built to the highest standards and will operate efficiently.
Energy-Efficient Design
The design of the polycondensation plant is based on proprietary technology that enables the production of high-quality polyester polymer. A notable feature of this plant is the direct conveyance of polymer melt from the polycondensation plant to several downstream lines, enhancing efficiency and product quality.
