Deal overview
Carbon Neutral Fuels and Energy Estate signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore development of a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) project in North Queensland using sugarcane agricultural waste as feedstock.
Scope of collaboration
The parties will jointly evaluate feedstock supply, site selection, pathway selection and offtake to determine the feasibility of producing SAF from sugarcane agricultural waste. The agreement was signed with BioNQ Developments, part of the Energy Estate group.
Strategic context
CNF described the MoU as its first step into the Australian market and said it intends to draw on its UK and European experience to support Australia’s fuel security and upcoming SAF mandate targets. The MOU builds on a strategic affiliation between Energy Estate and Queensland Cane Agriculture and Renewables (QCAR) to advance the BioNQ Project and position sugarcane as a contributor to regional fuel security and economic benefit.
Signing
The MoU was signed in London at the 2nd Global Synthetic Fuels Assembly hosted by The Energy Huddle.
