BASF Launches AdBlue GE Using 100% Green Electricity

Key highlights
  • BASF uses 100% renewable electricity from Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm for AdBlue GE production.
  • AdBlue GE maintains quality and performance, reducing CO2 emissions and NOx.
  • Initial market launch in Switzerland with Thommen Furler, expanding to other European countries.

Renewable Electricity in Production

BASF has introduced AdBlue GE, a product manufactured entirely using renewable electricity from the Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore wind farm. This approach significantly reduces CO2 emissions in the production process compared to traditional methods.

Product Quality and Performance

AdBlue GE matches conventional AdBlue in terms of quality and performance. It ensures high purity, consistent engine performance, and effectively reduces nitrogen oxides (NOx) and soot formation.

Market Launch and Expansion

The product is initially launched in Switzerland in collaboration with Thommen Furler. Plans are underway for a gradual expansion to other European countries, enhancing the sustainability of the supply chain through rail delivery.
