SPIE renews Johnson & Johnson maintenance contract in the Netherlands and Belgium

Key highlights
  • Three-year renewable contract for technical facility management across three Belgian and Dutch pharmaceutical sites (won by SPIE).
  • SPIE will remain responsible for mechanical engineering at the Leiden biologics and vaccines site and continues maintenance at Belgian distribution centers.
  • Operational measures delivered ~€500,000 annual energy savings and the agreement supports planned site expansion and modernization over the next five years.

Contract scope

SPIE secured a three-year renewable contract to provide technical facility management across three pharmaceutical sites in Belgium and the Netherlands, covering maintenance and engineering services.

Belgium and Netherlands operations

In Belgium SPIE has maintained Johnson & Johnson sites since July 2020, including the La Louvière pharmaceutical distribution center and the Courcelles medical devices hub; in the Netherlands SPIE has been the preferred maintenance partner for about 20 years, notably at the Leiden biologics and vaccines site, where it will retain mechanical engineering responsibility for the next three years.

Performance and continuity

Operational measures implemented during the contract period delivered approximately €500,000 in annual energy savings; preventive maintenance and on-site coordination aim to reduce downtime and maintain product quality and safety in a highly regulated environment.

Tender process and outlook

The international tender required cross-border coordination between SPIE teams; the agreement supports planned site expansion, new clean rooms, system modernizations and process optimizations accompanying Johnson & Johnson’s growth over the coming years.
