Scope and timing

The major maintenance shutdown (turnaround) of the naphtha cracker Olefins 4 and several other installations has been ongoing since March 16.

Work performed

Teams are carrying out a large number of inspections, renewals and adjustments so the plants can run safely and integrally again for the next six years.

Safety and information

Senior turnaround manager René Ebus says the work is done by a large team of SABIC and contractor employees and requires the highest safety level, professional knowledge and adherence to rules and guidelines. Before people can work on the turnaround they must complete safety trainings, including the Safety & Skill Center where practice is simulated.

More updates will appear on the Chemelot website and social media. Questions about maintenance stops and flaring can be asked at the Chemelot Visitor Center, Markt 114A Geleen. An explanatory video about the turnaround is available.
