  • Supplied as a powder in 20‑ or 40‑gram single‑dose sachets and in 1 kg or 5 kg units; low‑odor, compatible with stainless steel, polyethylene and polycarbonate, and retains efficacy for its stated shelf life.

Product overview

LANXESS has launched Rely+On Medero, a powdered disinfectant intended for the medical sector. It is supplied in single‑dose sachets (20 g or 40 g) and in bulk (1 kg and 5 kg) and is dissolved in water for use.

Efficacy and chemistry

The product is effective against bacteria, bacterial spores—including Clostridioides difficile—viruses, yeasts, fungi and mycobacteria, and acts reliably against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus biofilms within minutes. Its active chemistry combines potassium monopersulfate (Oxone) with active chlorine generated in‑situ.

Resistance and safety

LANXESS states the formulation does not induce acquired resistance, including in MRSA and VRE. The product is low‑odor compared with hypochlorite‑based formulations and is suitable for use in occupied patient areas.

Use cases, approvals and distribution

Rely+On Medero is intended for disinfection of hard surfaces and non‑invasive medical devices across wards, ICUs, operating theatres and isolation rooms. It is approved as a Class IIa medical device under the EU Medical Device Regulation and will be registered under the Biocidal Products Regulation as Product Type II for non‑medical hard surface use. LANXESS plans distribution across Europe, Asia and South America and positions the product alongside other Rely+On lines.
