New Recycling Plant in Nordkirchen
On May 28, 2024, RCS Group announced plans to develop a new site in the Ferdinand-Kortmann-Straße industrial estate in Nordkirchen. This expansion aims to meet the growing demand for recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET), driven by increased environmental awareness and stricter packaging regulations.
Recycling Process and Environmental Impact
RCS specializes in recycling disposable PET bottles into secondary raw materials like flakes and granules for non-food and food sectors. The company has been in the recycling business for over 40 years and has been producing rPET since 2012. The new plant will help reduce the consumption of primary raw materials and contribute to climate goals by saving 169,063 tons of CO2 and 1,346,820 MWh of energy annually.
Expansion and Employment
The RCS Group currently operates three companies in Werne and employs 205 people. The new Nordkirchen site will include halls, silos, offices, and parking spaces. RCS will continue its commitment to training and education in collaboration with local schools, maintaining its above-average training rate.
Future Goals
The new subsidiary, RCS Recycling GmbH, will be established to manage the Nordkirchen site. The plant will focus on recycling materials from the deposit system, aligning with the European Green Deal's goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. The project underscores RCS's dedication to environmentally friendly production and modern recycling technologies.
