POSCO DX becomes AI Native, advancing Physical AI and Agentic AI

Key highlights
  • Announced July 29: POSCO DX has declared a shift to an “AI Native Company” focused on Physical AI for industrial sites and Agentic AI for office work.
  • Physical AI is being applied to tens-of-tons equipment—cranes, reclaimers and ship unloaders—and to industrial robots, including AGVs that move 65-ton steel products.
  • POSCO DX launched Agentee, a platform managing the AI-agent lifecycle from recruitment to retirement, and has deployed over 200 AI agents across the POSCO Group.
  • An AI agent cut a monthly pre-settlement risk-check task from about three hours to under one minute; accounting automation is expected to lift settlement productivity by at least 30%.

Strategy and positioning

POSCO DX announced at a July 29 press conference that it is transitioning to an “AI Native Company,” centring strategy on two pillars: Physical AI for industrial sites and Agentic AI for office and management tasks. CEO Shim Min-suk presented the plan to accelerate technology development and commercialization.

Physical AI and robotisation

The company is integrating Physical AI into on-site control to robotise large-scale machinery and convert operator tacit knowledge into core data. Applications include cranes, reclaimers and ship raw material unloaders and robotisation examples such as melting-furnace impurity-removal robots, band cutter robots and AGVs that transport 65-ton steel products. POSCO DX offers end-to-end robot automation services, a heterogeneous-robot management platform in collaboration with POSCO, sim-to-real simulation, and VLA model development for mobile robots and humanoids.

Agentic AI and Agentee

POSCO DX developed Agentee to manage AI-agent lifecycles—recruitment, evaluation, training, promotion and retirement—and runs AX Consulting to map workflows and split roles between humans and AI. The company has deployed over 200 AI agents across POSCO Group. One agent reduced a monthly pre-settlement risk-check from about three hours to under one minute, and wider accounting agent adoption is expected to improve settlement productivity by at least 30%.

Group context and commercialization

POSCO Group is pursuing a ‘Mission-oriented AX’ across Process, Work and Value and outlined a July 2 CEO Investor Day vision for a ‘Triple-core’ system spanning industrial, strategic and energy resources. POSCO DX plans to commercialize physical AI for the process industry using steel-sector automation experience and field data.
