MAIRE's Nextchem awarded two NX Replast™ feasibility studies for plastic upcycling in Southern Africa and Southeast Asia

Key highlights
  • MAIRE's Nextchem awarded feasibility studies for two NX Replast plants: 25 KTPA in Southern Africa and 40 KTPA in Southeast Asia.
  • Southern Africa project: ~25 KTPA of post-consumer and post-industrial polyolefin waste to be converted into high-quality compounded r-polymers.
  • Southeast Asia project: 40 KTPA mechanical upcycling and compounding plant for a leading regional operator.
  • Feasibility studies cover process configuration, cost evaluation and preliminary engineering using NX Replast to valorize polyolefins (ethylene/propylene).

Feasibility studies awarded

MAIRE's Nextchem was awarded two feasibility studies to design mechanical upcycling and compounding plants based on NX Replast technology to valorize post‑consumer and post‑industrial polyolefin end‑of‑life materials.

Southern Africa project

Developed by a major local industrial player, the project targets processing of approximately 25 kilo‑tonnes per annum (KTPA) of polyolefin waste into high‑quality compounded recycled polymers for industrial and consumer applications; the study covers process configuration, cost evaluation and preliminary engineering.

Southeast Asia project

Selected by a leading regional operator, the second study addresses a 40 KTPA mechanical upcycling and compounding plant based on the same NX Replast technology.

Technology and study scope

NX Replast is positioned as a platform for rapid deployment of advanced mechanical upcycling and compounding plants that aim to produce recycled compounded polymers with technical properties comparable to virgin equivalents; the feasibility studies focus on technical configuration, costs and preliminary engineering to assess scalability and project implementation.
