- Askeladd Vest field began production on 19 September.
- Recoverable volumes from Askeladd Vest total about 15 billion standard cubic metres of gas.
- Investments in Askeladd Vest amount to just over NOK 3 billion.
- Hammerfest LNG produces 6.5 billion standard cubic metres of gas annually, meeting 2% of the EU's gas needs.

Production Start
On 19 September, production commenced from the Askeladd Vest subsea field in the Barents Sea. This field is crucial for maintaining high and long-term LNG production at the Melkøya processing plant.
Field Details
Askeladd Vest comprises two wells in a new well template connected to the Askeladd field, operational since 2022. The field's recoverable volumes are approximately 15 billion standard cubic metres of gas.
Investment and Capacity
The investment in Askeladd Vest is just over NOK 3 billion. Hammerfest LNG, the only plant in Northern Europe producing and exporting LNG, produces 6.5 billion standard cubic metres of gas annually, accounting for about 2% of the EU's gas needs.
Future Developments
Askeladd Vest supports full production at Hammerfest LNG until onshore compression begins as part of the Snøhvit Future project in 2028. Custom-built LNG vessels transport the cooled liquid gas to European markets every five days.
