Messer expands industrial gas capacity in Northern Vietnam
- Two projects in Thai Nguyen: a 600 t/d ASU at Yen Binh and a 300 t/d nitrogen liquefier at Song Cong.
- Total investment is approximately USD 40 million (around 35 million euros).
- The combined 900 t/d increase raises Messer’s Northern Vietnam capacity to 2,000 metric tons per day of liquid gases.
- Nitrogen liquefier expected mid‑2027; ASU expected by end‑2027 to serve growing electronics and semiconductor industries.
Project scope and investment
Messer will build a new air separation unit (ASU) at its existing site in Yen Binh capable of producing 600 metric tons per day of nitrogen, oxygen, and argon, and a new nitrogen liquefier with 300 metric tons per day capacity at its Song Cong site. Together the projects represent a total investment of approximately USD 40 million (around 35 million euros).
Capacity and schedule
The expansion adds 900 metric tons per day of liquid gas capacity, increasing Messer’s total production capacity in Northern Vietnam to 2,000 metric tons per day. The nitrogen liquefier is expected to commence operations mid-2027, followed by the ASU by the end of 2027.
Market rationale
The additional capacity is intended to strengthen the supply of liquid nitrogen to support the region’s rapidly growing electronics and semiconductor industries amid continued foreign direct investment and the expansion of major technology manufacturers in Northern Vietnam.
